- This standard specifies a method for evaluating the repeatability and consistency of X-ray photoelectron spectrometer intensity scales in routine analysis, using a non-monochromatic Al/Mg or monochromatic Al X-ray source. This standard applies only to instruments equipped with sputter ion guns. This standard does not calibrate the intensity/energy response function. This calibration should be done by the instrument manufacturer or other qualified organization. The data provided in this standard are used to evaluate and confirm the accuracy with which the intensity/energy response function remains constant during instrument use. This standard provides some guidance on instrument settings that may affect conformance.
