Scope
This standard specifies the process and technical requirements for friction stir welding of aluminum alloys for aerospace products, including welding process conditions, weldments, pre-welding preparation, welding, repair and rework of welding defects, and welding inspection requirements. This standard is applicable to friction stir welding of aluminum alloy I-shaped butt joints of 2A12, 2A14, 2219, 5A03, and 5A06 material grades with a base metal thickness of 3 mm to 12 mm.
