- Scope
- This standard specifies the method for the determination of moisture content in petroleum and products by the Karl Fischer furnace-Karl Fischer coulometric method. This standard is applicable to the determination of moisture content in petroleum and products. Free bases, metal oxides, oxidants, reducing agents, inorganic oxygen-containing weak acid salts and some simple nitrogen-containing compounds may interfere with the determination. The titration error caused by 0.1% thiol sulfur is equivalent to 0.028% water. When the thiol sulfur content is above 0.015%, it will interfere with the determination.
