Scope
WARNING: Since this test cell has no vent, corrosive liquids that are unstable at the test temperature should not be used. Heater power should be limited to avoid the danger of high temperatures if the temperature becomes uncontrolled. The experimenter should be aware that these precautions are far from sufficient under certain experimental conditions. Under certain conditions, users may take additional safety precautions. This standard specifies the test methods for non-metallic gaskets (hereinafter referred to as gaskets) in corrosive environments under different temperatures and pressures. If the flange is very flat (allowed by the industry), the test cell can use glass-lined material for testing other corrosive chemicals except hydrofluoric acid. The temperature range can be from cryogenic to 260°C, and the pressure range can be from full vacuum to the pressure that the test unit can withstand. This standard is used to compare various types of gaskets under simulated practical operating conditions. Gaskets are tested for these properties before being put into the chemical process. The test unit was designed to provide the maximum range of corrosion resistance for meaningful results.
