- This standard specifies the Abel-Pensky (Abel-Pensky) closed-cup method for determining the flash point of petroleum products and other liquids. This standard applies to the determination of the flash point of petroleum products and other liquids with a flash point in the range of 5°C to 65°C. For temperatures below 5°C, the method can be applied, but the precision of the results obtained must be significantly lower than the values specified in Section 9.3. This standard does not apply to the determination of the flash point of heterogeneous substances and viscous solutions, such as varnishes, coatings or adhesives.
