Scope
In the sense of this guideline dust deposition is a mass flow concentration, i. e. a mass per unit of area and time. It is calculated from the mass of the dry residue of the collected loads, the duration of exposure and the opening area of the jar collector. The dust deposition does not correspond to a deposition according to VDI 4320 Part 1, as only dry residue is determined. The method is thus not suitable for the determination of bulk deposition or total deposition. The method can especially be used for the following purposes: dust deposition measurements according to TA Luft, dust deposition determinations in the environment of a plant, determination of dust deposition at sites affected by traffic resp. in urban or rural backgrounds, as first-cut method for the tracing of volume flows, as sampling method for the determination of pollutants in dust deposition.
