Scope
This standard specifies the definition of interface circuits between data terminal equipment (DTE) and data circuit terminating equipment (DCE). This standard applies to the interconnection circuit at the interface between DTE and DCE and is called interface circuit. These circuits are used to transfer binary data, control and timing signals, and suitable analog signals. This standard also applies to both sides of independent intermediate equipment, and independent intermediate equipment can be inserted between these two types of equipment (see Figure 1). Figure 1 is omitted. The range of interface circuits specified in this standard can be used, for example: a) synchronous and asynchronous data communication; b) data communication on two-wire and four-wire, point-to-point or multipoint operation over leased line services; c) switched network services Data communication over two or four wires; d) Between DTE and DCE, where short interconnection cables are used, see Chapter 4 for instructions on short cables. The DTE/DCE interface conforming to the provisions of this standard can also be interconnected with the public data network. At this time, the supplementary information on the implementation and operation requirements of the interface circuit is in GB/T 11600/ITU-T X.20 bis and GB/T 11599/ITU-T X.21 bis. Any practical equipment should be properly selected from the range of interface circuits specified in this standard. The actual interface circuits in a particular DCE are those specified in the corresponding standard. The interchanging circuits specified in the DCE standards referenced by this standard are only applicable to the interface on the DCE side. These circuits need to guarantee normal operation and be controlled or monitored by DTE (see 4.5). In Chapter 4, the purpose and operation requirements of interface circuits and the interaction between interface circuits are specified. For electrical characteristics in interchange circuits, refer to ITU-T V.10, ITU-T V.11, ITU-T V.12, GB/T 3455/ITU-T V.28, ITU-T V.31 and ITU-T T V. 31 bis. The mechanical characteristics of the interface refer to GB/T 15125/ISO 2110 (25-pole), GB/T 17559/ISO/IEC 11569 (26-pole), GB/T 17959/ISO/IEC 13575 (50-pole) or GB/T T 9950/ISO 4902 (37-pole). A DCE may include signal converters, timing generators, pulse regenerative repeaters, and control circuits, as well as equipment that provides other functions such as error control, automatic calling, and automatic answering. Some of these devices are stand-alone intermediate devices, or devices installed in DTEs.
