This part of GB/T 5158 specifies the method for the determination of the total oxygen content in metal powders not greater than 2% (mass fraction) by the high-temperature reduction-extraction method. After consultation, it can also be used to determine the total oxygen content in sintered metal materials. This section applies to various metals, alloys, carbides (tungsten carbide) and mixture powders without volatile components under the test conditions. Samples can be powder or briquetting. Powders are analyzed as supplied. This method is not suitable for powders containing lubricants or binders. If the sample contains lubricants or binders, this method can only be used if a method can be used to completely remove these substances without affecting the oxygen content. This section should be used in conjunction with GB/T 5158.1.
