- This standard specifies test methods for surge protective devices (SPDs) used in low-voltage dis ribution systems and surge protective devices (SPDs) in signaling networks. This standard is applicable to the testing of electronic and electrical equipment protectors (SPDs) that are assembled and connected to low-voltage dis ribution lines and telecommunications signal networks with AC rated voltage not exceeding 1000V (effective value), 50/60Hz or DC voltage not exceeding 1500V. .
