- This standard applies to the combustion of liquid hydrocarbons and their vapors caused by hot surfaces under open-air environmental conditions. This standard does not apply to hydrocarbon combustion under the following specific conditions: spontaneous combustion when there is no hot surface; hydrocarbon vapor is in contact with heated metal or hot metal (such as welding slag), or is directly impacted by the high-heat flue gas emitted Resulting combustion; spontaneous combustion of hydrocarbons wrapped in rust, oil-soaked insulation or hot surfaces covered with rust.
