- Scope
- 1.1 This standard specifies two methods for measuring evaporation loss of lubricating oil. Method A uses a Wood Alloy Noyak evaporation loss meter, and Method B uses an automatic non-Wood Alloy Noyak evaporation loss meter. The test methods of this standard are relevant to operating conditions but may be applied to other conditions if necessary. 1.2 There are differences in the measurement results of Method A and Method B. For fully formulated internal combustion engine oil, the measurement results of Method A are slightly lower than those of Method B; for base oils, the measurement results of Method A are slightly higher than those of Method B. 1.3 This standard uses [SI] International System of Units units. 1.4 This standard covers certain hazardous materials, operations and instruments, but does not make recommendations on all safety is ues related to these. It is therefore necessary for users to establis appropriate safety and protective measures and determine the applicability of relevant regulatory limitations before using this standard.
