- The standard applies to the testing of foodstuffs and isolates obtained from them for microbial contamination using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and relates to the general requirements for the in vitro propagation of nucleic acid sequences (DNA or RNA) and for the detection of the specificity of the amplified nucleic acid sequence.
