Scope
This guidance technical document covers the latest schemes of 10 photometric systems (4 for 2° field of view and 6 for 10° field of view), which have been submitted to the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) No. Part 1, as a method for the determination of the relative brightness of light within the full range of human visual acuity. To quantitatively test these systems, multiple datasets submitted by independent laboratories with different stimulus combinations and experimental procedures for the Heterochromia-Brightness Matching Test (HCBM) were used. And, each system was tested using data from six research groups performing HCBM experiments under very similar conditions using the same color samples. These numerical experiments were primarily intended to test the equivalence of the equivalent brightness of the brightness-matching stimulus, rather than the absolute level of the brightness scale. This guidance technical document describes the results of these quantitative tests and does not make any recommendations for a new CIE system.
