Chapters 4, 5 and 6 of this part of GB/T 25890 specify the requirements for surge arresters for ground installations of DC traction power supply systems. The arrester includes one or more non-linear resistance sheets, and one or more discharge gaps can be connected in series. Chapter 7 of this part of GB/T 25890 specifies the requirements for low-voltage limiters. In the ground device of the DC traction power supply system, when the voltage exceeds the specified value, the voltage limiter will be connected to some parts of the system to play a protective role. The low-voltage limiter can also form a self-recovery device together with contactors and other equipment. Voltage limiters generally do not provide surge protection. The main applications of low-voltage limiters are as follows: Connecting metal rails: Protecting track circuits; Grounding substation rails; Protecting cathodic circuits; Protecting cable shielding.
