Scope
This standard proposes the basis for drafting hand-held and hand-guided power machinery vibration test methods, and specifies hand-transmitted vibration measurement methods for frequency-weighted root-mean-square (rms) acceleration in type tests. For machinery for which there is no vibration test method, this standard can also be used to measure the vibration value and provide sufficient guidance for the development of appropriate test methods. This standard applies to hand-held power tools (such as shovels and grinders), hand-guided power machinery (such as lawn mowers, single-axle tractors, vibratory rollers) and other devices equipped with handles, guide arms or similar controls. Types of power tools, and suitable for power machinery with all power sources such as electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and internal combustion. This standard does not apply to stationary machinery that transmits vibrations to the user's hands through the workpiece. This standard does not apply to vibrations transmitted by the control wheels or control levers when the operator is on a movable machine. This standard is limited to the measurement of linear vibrations in three orthogonal directions on the surface of the mechanical handle. Care should be taken when applying this standard to machinery producing single shocks and repetitive shocks with frequencies below 5 Hz. For this type of machinery, it is not known whether the frequency-weighted rms acceleration values are relevant to health hazards, so an increase in the number of measurements may be required. The relevant information in CEN ISO/TS 15694 should be considered when improving vibration measurement methods for such machinery. This standard does not propose vibration limits or recommended vibration values, and does not give any guidance or advice on the measurement of human exposure to vibration in the workplace. For these information, please refer to GB/T 14790.1 and EN ISO 5349-2.
