Scope
Warning: Mercury salts are highly toxic chemicals. During operation, protective equipment should be worn as required to avoid contact with skin and clothing. The waste liquid after testing should be properly and safely disposed of. This standard specifies a spectrophotometric method for the determination of free chlorine and total chlorine in water. This standard is applicable to the determination of free chlorine and total chlorine in surface water, industrial wastewater, medical wastewater, domestic sewage, reclaimed water and landscape water for sewage regeneration. This standard is not applicable to the determination of water samples with higher turbidity or high color.
