Scope: 1.1 This standard is applicable to the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PCA) content of unused lubricating oil base oil without additives at standard atmospheric pressure (101.3kPa), with a fraction less than 300°C not exceeding 5% (recovery volume fraction). The measurement range of PCA content is 1% (mass fraction) to 15% (mass fraction). 1.2 This standard can also be used to determine polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PCA) content beyond this range and other asphaltene-free petroleum fractions, but the precis on has not yet been determined.
