Scope
This method uses gas chromatography to determine the content of diluted diesel in diesel engine oil. This method is suitable for SAE30 vis osity grade diesel engine oil. The concentration of diluted diesel can reach 12% (mass fraction). This method uses a gas chromatograph with a hydrogen flame detector and a temperature-programmed column oven. There is some overlap in the boiling point ranges of diesel and SAE 30 vis osity grade diesel engine oils. In addition, SAE30 diesel engine oils from different sources also have slightly different boiling point ranges. Calibration corrections of up to 2% may be required depending on dilute diesel content. When measuring unknown or mixed grades of used diesel engine oil, it should be recognized that the precis on of the method may be worse than that obtained by calibration with new oil representative of the used oil. Values in this method are expressed in SI units. This standard addresses certain safety is ues related to the use of the standard. However, it is not intended to provide advice on all safety is ues. Therefore, users should establis appropriate safety and protective measures and determine an applicable management system before using this standard.
