- Scope
- This part of GB/T 8190 specifies the test cycle and test procedures for evaluating the exhaust smoke of compression ignition engines under field conditions. This part is mainly used for the smoke test of the engine that has completed the "certification" or "type certification" in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 8190.9. GB/T 8190.9 stipulates the test cycle and test procedures for the test bench measurement of engines with different purposes. During the transient smoke test cycle, smoke should be measured using a smoke meter that works according to the extinction principle. This standard specifies the smoke test cycle and the method of measuring and analyzing smoke. See ISO 11614 for detailed regulations on smoke measurement using the extinction principle. This standard is intended to specify the measurement and analysis of smoke test cycles and measurement methods. The test procedures and measurement methods specified in Chapters 5 to 11 of this part are applicable to reciprocating internal combustion engines. However, an engine for one application can only be evaluated using one of the corresponding test cycles specified in this part. Appendices A, B and C of this Part each contain an engine suitable for a particular application within the scope of that appendix. In some cases, the smoke test cycle specified in the appendix may also be used for engines and machinery covered in Part 4 of GB/T 8190.
