- Scope
- This standard specifies the terms, principles, reagents, instruments and equipment, sample preparation, operating procedures, result presentation and precision requirements for the determination of sterol dienes in vegetable oils by high performance liquid chromatography, especially stigmasteradiene. Sterol dienes are formed by the dehydration of sterols in the process of oil bleaching, steam washing and deodorization. This method is also suitable for screening methods for the presence of refined vegetable oils in unrefined oils such as virgin olive oil.
