This International Standard specifies a method for carrying out root, top, transverse and side bending tests on specimens of butt welds, butt welds with cladding (divided into welds in clad sheets and in clad welds) and cladding without butt welds to determine formability and/or the absence of irregularities on or near the surface of the test piece. It also indicates the dimensions of the sample. In addition, this International Standard specifies a method for performing root and top longitudinal bending tests to be used in place of transverse bending tests for heterogeneous components when base metals and/or filler metals have significant differences in their physical and mechanical properties with respect to bending. This International Standard applies to metal materials of any product form with welded joints produced using any type of arc fusion welding process.
