- This standard specifies the method for determining the lower confidence limit of reliability based on a simple random sample of product characteristic values, a given confidence level, and upper (lower) specification limits for characteristic values when the overall mean and overall variance of product characteristic values are unknown. This standard applies to situations where the product characteristic values follow a normal distribution.
