Scope

This part of GB/T 3792 specifies the continuous resource description items and their arrangement order, description identifier, description information source, description text, the principle that continuous resources need to be separately described, and the detailed rules for description items, etc. This section applies to national bibliographies and library catalogs as well as catalogs of various types of collections. The objects described in this part are the continuous resources of various carriers that do not have a clear end date in terms of release time. According to the way of distribution, there are two kinds of serial publications and integrated resources. The rules of this section also apply to the cataloging of recurring resources that issue serially or with part numbers and that have other characteristics of serial publications (e.g. frequency of publication in the title) but are published for a limited duration (e.g. Newsletters of an event), reproductions of serial publications, limited aggregate resources (such as the website of the XXIX Olympiad), etc.
