1 This Standard deals with the suitability, installation, distribution and maintenance of hand operated fire fighting equipment for the protection of buildings, their contents and outside plant. It covers hose reels and portable fire extinguishers of the type that can be carried by hand not exceeding 23 kg in weight.
2 It is not intended to cover special equipment such as wheeled mobile type extinguishers, although in the absence of any Standard covering these types of units the recommended servicing practices laid down in sections 6, 7 and 8 (where applicable) can be applied.
