Scope
This specification covers the requirements for rigid urethane and isocyanurate foams for use in thermal insulation applications, in the form of a) slabs, sheets, or moulded shapes; and b) the foam components of laminates which have been produced, in the factory, by the dispensing of the foam between facings, or by the bonding of slabs of the foam to facings. 2 The specification does not cover foams formed in situ (e.g. cavity wall insulation). NOTE a) The standards referred to in the specification are listed in Appendix A. b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser are listed in Appendix B. c) Notes for the guidance of foam users are provided in Appendix C. d) Notes on points of general importance in foam manufacture are contained in Appendix D. e) Notes on distinguishing between urethane and isocyanurate foams are given in Appendix E. f) Information regarding the verification of the quality of rigid urethane and isocyanurate foams produced to this specification, and a sampling plan that could be used to assess compliance with the specification of a lot of urethane or isocyanurate foam, are given in Appendix F.
