Scope
This standard specifies the basic principles for the measurement and data processing required to evaluate the effects of vibration on buildings. What is concerned here is not the vibration source itself, except the dynamic range, frequency or other parameters of the vibration source. The evaluation of the effects of structural vibrations focuses on the response of the structure and includes appropriate analytical methods to determine frequency, duration and magnitude. This standard applies only to the measurement of structural vibrations, and does not consider sound pressure and other forms of pressure waves, but the response to these excitations needs to be considered. The buildings defined here are on the ground and inhabited. Some specific factory buildings such as columns, chimneys, derricks, structures, etc. are not considered within the scope of consideration, although they often have staff entering and exiting. The structural response of a building is related to the excitation source. The ultimate purpose of formulating this standard is to test the measurement method of the building under the action of the vibration source (ie, the frequency, duration, amplitude, etc. of the excitation). The excitation sources we focus on mainly include earthquakes, explosions, wind pressure, acoustic shocks, internal machines, traffic, building construction, etc.
