Scope
This standard specifies the safety requirements for rebound type rope starters for internal combustion engines, applicable to reciprocating internal combustion engines for land use, rail traction and marine use, except for road vehicles and aviation internal combustion engines. This standard is also applicable to internal combustion engines for road construction machinery, earth moving machinery and other purposes for which there is no suitable standard at present. In addition to specifying safety requirements, this standard also includes inspection methods for compliance with these requirements. This standard only deals with the hazards associated with the installation and use of rebound rope starters.
