Scope
This standard applies to the protection classification of electrical equipment with a rated voltage not exceeding 72.5 kV and protected by enclosures. The purpose of this standard is as follows: a) Specify the enclosure protection level of electrical equipment for the following aspects: 1) Prevent the human body from approaching dangerous parts inside the enclosure; 2) Prevent solid foreign matter from entering the equipment inside the enclosure; 3) Prevent damage to the equipment caused by water entering the enclosure harmful effects. b) Identification of protection level. c) Requirements for each protection level. d) Conduct verification tests on the shell in accordance with the requirements of this standard. The extent and manner of citing enclosure protection levels for various products, as well as what kind of enclosures are used, are left to be determined by product standards. The tests used for specific protection levels should comply with the provisions of this standard. If necessary, supplements can be added to relevant product standards. Require. See Appendix B for details that may be specified in relevant product standards. For special types of equipment, product standards can specify different requirements, but at least the same level of safety must be ensured. This standard only considers enclosures that comply with relevant product standards in all aspects. Under normal use conditions, the materials and processes of the enclosure should ensure that the required protection level is achieved. If a certain type of equipment meets the general requirements for testing and the selected degree of protection is suitable for that type of equipment, this standard also applies to the empty enclosure of that type of equipment. Damage to the shell and equipment inside the shell caused by external influences such as mechanical damage, rust, corrosive solvents (such as cutting fluids), mold, insect damage, solar radiation, ice, moisture (such as caused by condensation), explosive gases or environmental conditions Protective measures and prevention of contact with dangerous moving parts outside the enclosure (such as fans) are specified by the relevant product standards. Partitions that are not connected to the enclosure and barriers specifically designed for personal safety are not considered part of the enclosure and will not be studied in this standard.
