This part of GB 17498 specifies common terms and definitions, classifications, safety requirements and test methods for stationary fitness equipment (hereinafter referred to as fitness equipment). This section applies to stationary fitness equipment, which includes equipment (S and I categories) used by various group training places that are easy to control and manage exclusively through the owner (with legal personality), such as: sports associations, educational institutions, hotels, gymnasiums, clubs , rehabilitation centers and studios. This section also applies to household (Class H) and other types, including motor-driven stationary fitness equipment. The additional special requirements of other parts of GB 17498 take precedence over the corresponding requirements of this part of GB 17498. This section does not apply to stationary fitness equipment for children.
