- This standard specifies a format for data transmission between computers through directly connected parallel or serial interfaces, telephone lines, local area networks, or other means of communication. The transmitted data is encoded in characters that can be displayed or printed by an ordinary monitor or printer. This format is suitable for AES, EDX, FABMS, ISS, SIMS, SNMS, UPS, XPS, XRF and other similar analysis methods. It covers data streams from spectrograms, 2D elemental images, depth profiling, and a variety of other experimental techniques.
