Scope: This standard specifies the method for evaluating the electrostatic behavior of various types of carpets under monitoring conditions. Since the generated electric potential varies with humidity, shoe sole material, walking carpet surface and walking mode, the results obtained in this test may not necessarily reflect the situation of the carpet laying site, but it can be used for different types of carpets. The performance of the carpet surface provides reference and comparison. Where grouping is required or in case of dispute, the measurement procedures specified in this standard may be carried out under the control conditions specified in the relevant polarization standard. Situations may arise that require measurements to be taken under uncontrolled conditions, for example on-site where floor coverings are laid. Using the principle of measurement using the equipment specified in this standard, the measurement can be carried out by wearing the specified standard shoes, or by wearing the relevant shoes specified on the site of use.
