Scope

This standard specifies the basic requirements and operating procedures for determining the roughness (smoothness) of paper and paper by the air leakage method. This standard applies to most papers and papers, but not to embossed papers, creped papers, or papers that cannot be laid flat under the test conditions, and papers with high air permeability that allow a large amount of air flow through the paper surface.
