- 1.1 This part of GB/T 8323 stipulates that samples of sheet materials, composite materials or assemblies with a thickness not exceeding 25mm shall be placed vertically in a closed cabinet equipped with a specified level of heat radiation source, with or without an ignition flame. In the case of , measure the method of smoke generation from the exposed surface. 1.2 It should be noted that the optical density value of smoke measured by this test method is measured under the specified shape and size of the sample or assembly, and cannot be considered as its inherent basic performance. 1.3 This test is mainly used for research and development and fire safety engineering of buildings, trains, ships, etc., and cannot be used as the basis for building ratings or other purposes. It does not provide a basis for predicting smoke density under other (actual) combustion conditions from materials exposed to heat or flames, nor does it establish any relationship to data obtained by other test methods. This test procedure excludes the effect of irritants on the eyes. 1.4 It is emphasized that the smoke generated by the material will vary according to the irradiance to which the specimen is exposed. Therefore, when using the results of this method, it should be confirmed that the sample is exposed to the specified 25kW/m2 or 5OkW/m2 irradiance conditions.
