Scope: This part of SNIT 2141 specifies the test method for determining the fineness of textile raw materials (or average fiber diameter, micronaire value, etc.) using an air flow instrument. This section is applicable to the use of air flow instruments for the determination of certain treated sheep wool (including greasy wool, scoured wool, carbonized wool, wool strips, etc.) and cotton fibers removed from cotton bales, rolls, card slivers or other sources of lint.
