- This standard specifies the Dumas determination method for total nitrogen in imported and exported foods and feeds, and the method for calculating the crude protein content. This standard is applicable to the determination of total nitrogen content and crude protein content in cereals, beans, milled cereal products, oilseeds, milk and dairy products, and animal feed. This standard does not apply to the determination of foods with added inorganic nitrogen-containing substances and organic non-protein substances.
