Scope

This standard specifies the test method for AC magnetic properties of materials other than electrical steel and soft ferrite in the frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz. Materials covered by this standard include: special alloys listed in IEC 60404-8-6; pressed, sintered, metal injection molded components listed in IEC 60404-8-9; castings and soft magnetic composite materials. The purpose of this standard is to clarify the general principles and technical details of testing the properties of soft magnetic materials with ring specimens. For powdered materials, annular specimens shall be made by suitable extrusion methods.
