Scope: This standard stipulates the basic requirements and testing methods for eyeglass frames used with refractive correction lenses, prior to incorporating the lenses. This standard applies to frames sold by manufacturers or wholesalers to retailers, and applies to all eyeglass frames, including rimless frames, grooved frames and folding frames. Parts of this standard are also applicable to eyeglass frames made from natural organic materials. However, this standard does not apply to products designed and manufactured as completely custom frames or personal eye protection (welding safety glasses, ski goggles, etc.).
