- This section is applicable to the purification of sample extracts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, phenol-derived compounds, organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls. This section specifies the solid phase extraction column purification steps for pentafluorobenzyl bromide-derived phenols, organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls. It also provides methods for separating polychlorinated biphenyls from most organochlorine pesticides. When only PCBs need to be determined, this standard can be used in conjunction with the sulfuric acid/permanganic acid purification standard. If the recovery rate meets the requirements, other organic compounds can also be purified using this method.
