Scope
This standard specifies the analytical procedures for the determination of sodium chloride in food by indirect precipitation titration and potentiometric titration; and provides the analytical procedure for the determination of sodium chloride in food by direct precipitation titration (Appendix A). The indirect precipitation titration method and direct precipitation titration method in this standard are suitable for the determination of sodium chloride in meat products, aquatic products, vegetable products, pickled foods, condiments and starch products, but not for the determination of sodium chloride in dark-colored foods Potentiometric titration method is suitable for the determination of sodium chloride in the above-mentioned various foods and dark-colored foods.
