This standard specifies the test method for the surface burning performance of carpets exposed to a small fire source in a horizontal position under controlled laboratory conditions. This standard applies to carpets of various structures and fiber components. This standard stipulates that the sample is in a horizontal position, and the test results are not applicable to the burning performance of carpets used in other positions. This method is intended only for the evaluation of the response of carpet materials or composite systems to heat and flame under controlled laboratory conditions, and is not intended for the evaluation or specification of the flammability of carpets under actual fire conditions. In trade, sampling is carried out in accordance with the ISO 2859 sampling plan, and this method can be widely used as a satisfactory test method in commodity acceptance tests.
