This standard specifies the method for determining the flash ignition temperature and natural temperature of plastics using a hot air furnace. This standard applies to the determination of the flash ignition temperature and natural temperature of plastics. The test results of this standard can be used to compare the ignition characteristics of different materials under the test conditions, and can describe the minimum ambient air temperature for the material to ignite under the test conditions; in actual use conditions, the test results of this standard can be used as the basis for the classification of material ignition sensitivity levels in accordance with. This standard does not directly measure the burning properties, burning speed or upper limit temperature of plastics, nor can this standard alone describe or evaluate the fire hazard of materials, products or assemblies under actual fire conditions. Nevertheless, the results of the test can be used as one of the fire risk assessment factors.
