Scope: This standard specifies the dimensions of hollow shank tapers (HSK) with flanged contact surfaces for machine tools such as lathes, drilling machines, milling machines and grinding machines. This part includes two shank types: Type A has an annular groove capable of automatic tool change on the flange, and the tool can also be changed manually; type C has no annular groove on the flange and can only be used for manual tool change . Both types of manual clamping are done through a hole in the tapered shank. The transmission of torque is done through the key and friction at the end of the tapered shank.
