Scope: This International Standard specifies basic methods for the measurement of average grain size, intercept, and grain area distribution of metallic and nonmetallic polycrystalline materials. This standard applies to single-phase and dual-phase samples with equiaxed and elongated grain structures. This standard is also applicable to other similar crystal structure substances, such as honeycomb structure substances. This standard requires the use of semi-automatic or fully automatic image analysis equipment. This standard is only a recommended test method, it cannot determine whether the tested material is acceptable or suitable for the applicable scope. This standard does not consider all safety issues associated with testing. The tester shall be responsible for the measures related to safety and health.
