Scope

1.1 This standard specifies a test method for dispersing pigments and extenders in water by mechanical flushing and measuring the sieve residue. This method may also be applied to the examination of other powders or granules that are insoluble in water. Does not apply to hydrophobic or pelletized pigments and extender pigments. 1.2 JIS K 5101-141 specifies a test method for determining the sieve residue of pigments by manual method. 1.3 Normally, methods 1.1 and 1.2 will give different results for pigments, so decide in advance which method will be used when testing, and include in the test report which method was used.
