This standard specifies the test method for determining the water solubility of pigments and extender pigments in cold water in mass fraction (%). Note that JIS K 5101-16-1 specifies a method for quantifying the mass fraction (%) of water-soluble components using the boiling extraction method. These two test methods will give different results for most pigments, so decide in advance which method to use. Also, specify which method was used in the test report.
