Scope
This standard specifies two methods for evaluating the melting behavior of partially crystalline polymers. The melting temperatures determined by different methods usually differ by a few degrees, as explained in the introduction. Method A: Capillary method This method is based on polymer deformation as a melting temperature measurement method, applicable to all partially crystalline polymers and their mixtures. Method B: Polarizing microscope method This method is based on the change of polymer optical properties to determine the melting temperature. It is suitable for the determination of the melting temperature of polymers containing birefringent crystal phases. It is not suitable for adding pigments that interfere with birefringence. and/or melting temperature determination of polymer crystalline regions of additives.
