Scope

This standard specifies the metallographic inspection and evaluation methods for eutectic aluminum-silicon alloy and aluminum-silicon-copper-magnesium alloy pis ons for automobile and motorcycle engines. This standard is applicable to the inspection of the metallographic structure of automobile and motorcycle engine pis ons as cast or after heat treatment (aging or solution plus aging treatment).
