This standard specifies the methods used to determine the density, resistivity and stacking coefficient of electrical steel sheets (strips). These measured values are indicative of the magnetic properties of the material. In fact, when the thickness of the sample is unknown, the density value of the sample is needed to measure the magnetic induction. For the determination of density, the immersion method has previously been considered as a controversial basic method. However, experience has shown that this method is difficult to perform on sheet samples with large surface areas. Therefore, this method is no longer included, and GB/T 5163, GB/T 1033 and ISO 1183 refer to this method.
