This standard specifies the corrosion characteristics and guidance values for the corrosiveness levels defined in GB/T 19292.1. Guideline values give the corrosion rates for standard materials of construction and these values can be used in engineering calculations. Guideline values specify the technical content of each corrosivity class of standard metals. This standard can be used to predict the service life of metals, alloys and some metal coatings in atmospheres of different levels of corrosiveness. These guideline values also provide a technical basis for determining the need for protective measures and other engineering purposes. Guidance values are based on extensive field exposure and use results. Corrosion rates may exceed those expected for a particular class of corrosivity in the vicinity of a particular location where localized or galvanic corrosion may result.
