This standard concerns the calibration of metal reference blocks intended for the indirect verification of Brinell hardness testing machines referred to in UNI 7476-75. It does not necessarily have to be applied for the calibration of the test blocks used by the user for current checks of the machine. 2 Reference blocks calibrated according to this standard can be used for the verification of all Brinell hardness testing machines. Any machine that has been verified according to this method can be used, without any additional verification, for tests on a modified Brinell scale, for which, for example, a wolfram carbide sphere is used.
